As Hong Kong undergoes unprecedented change, Kit spends his days fishing at sea with his father, drifting further from the city he once knew. When his girlfriend Maya prepares to emigrate to Canada, Kit and his friends become consumed by anger, alienation and the desire for resistance. Set on New Year’s Eve of a turbulent year, the film captures a generation caught between departure and destruction, culminating in a desperate journey across Victoria Harbour toward an imagined explosion that could turn the night sky vermilion.
