Kit works with his father to fish in order to make a living. Staying on the sea for very long hours, Kit could only learn about the happenings ashore, where Hong Kong undergoes an unprecedented rapid change, through radio. Whenever Kit returns to shore, he feels Hong Kong was so distant. Evading is his only option. Unexpectedly, his girlfriend Maya's immigration application has been approved. She and her family will settle in Canada by the end of 2019. Kit knew it ahead, however, he is still caught off guard. He knows he lacks the reason to ask her stay. One day, Kit and his friends Manping, K and Andy are attacked anonymously. After that, they found their graffiti painted on wall is covered with a new layer of oil paint. Their aggrievement escalates. On New Year’s Eve, when Kit and his friends wander in game centre, Manping rushes in and explains the plan of the gang he follows: they will blow up the IFC right at midnight. The news excites everyone. Even with doubts in mind, they will rather not miss this rare moment. Kit steers the fishing boat which they all get abroad to Victoria Harbour, hoping the explosion would soak the sky into the sea of vermilion.
